Global alternative investment firm, a world leader in technology and financial innovation, is seeking a Global Head of Architecture to join their firm. Working closely with senior management from all areas of this dynamic company, you will be responsible for evaluating current technology architecture, recommending change, and helping to lead the effort to determine what the future of this firm’s technical architecture will look like. This firm’s commitment to technology is one of the strongest aspects of it’s culture and vital to it’s continued success. Over time, the firm has developed a set of software frameworks, establishing common ways of doing things for developers. The company also makes extensive use of SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) and Grid computing. The current technical architecture is heavily Unix-based, and many of those systems and applications will live on as more and more parts of the firms architecture migrate to C# .NET. Other responsibilities will include evaluating 3rd party tools and new technologies i.e. compilers, chipsets, and helping to determine how they can impact the firm as well as architecting a new generation of internet facing applications. This position requires: A college degree in C.S. or similar with advanced degree(s) in finance, technology or related fields a plus. - At least 10 years of professional experience in development of object-oriented, highly distributed information systems utilizing C++.
- Experience architecting and developing in Unix and .NET distributed computing environments.
- Strong, demonstrable experience developing and architecting low-latency, high throughput real-times systems.
- Strong experience with SOA and Grid Computing.
- The ability to communicate across all levels of this global financial firm.
- Experience developing and architecting systems for algorithmic, statistical arbitrage, energy trading and other financial instruments is highly desired.
- Experience working as a senior technical architect for a top-tier investment bank, hedge fund, or proprietary trading firm is highly desired.
