The Portfolio Accountant is responsible for all recording aspects of accounting as it relates to real estate properties and to the Investment Portfolios with assets under management. Our client base consists of corporate and public pension funds, foreign institutes and large institutions. The Portfolio Accountant receives and analyzes property data, organizes information to facilitate internal reporting, updates reports, prepares journal entries and utilizes the Yardi accounting system. This position reports to the Senior Portfolio Accountant.
Job Functions:
Collect, load, analyze, review and report monthly property data from third party managers, ensure adherence to established accounting policies and procedures. Prepare accrual schedules as required for the assigned funds. Review and process capital expenditure, legal and miscellaneous disbursements to ensure properties properly record disbursements. Reconcile monthly contribution/distribution accounts between property and portfolio Reconcile bank statements for Separate Accounts DDA's as well as weekly cash activity report for all funds. Monitor daily cash balances, investing excess funds for all funds. Expedite ad-hoc internal and external reporting requirements and maintain portfolio accounting files. Assist Senior Portfolio Accountant during internal audits of third party managers.
Qualifications:
We are seeking a recent college graduate (or soon to be graduate) with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (Business majors will also be considered) with excellent academic achievement and involvement in extracurricular activities, analytical, interpersonal, leadership, and oral and written communication skills. The ability to multi-task, demonstrate attention to detail, work as part of the team in a fast-paced environment, meet reporting deadlines and be very flexible. The candidate must also be able to work independently and as part of a team that encompasses information systems, asset management, valuations, marketing, portfolio management, and acquisitions. The candidate must be detail oriented, computer literate and possess financial and analytical skills.
